The United Nations Association Center
Here for You, Here to Help
Founded in 1975, the Center is run by the United Nations Association of Southern Arizona (UNA-SA). We're a proud part of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA), an independent, non-profit organization that promotes the UN's goals of peace, justice and the betterment of life for the world's people.
Doing Good Deeds
At UNA-SA, we hold a variety of educational activities to increase awareness of what's going on in the world. We work to foster understanding of all the good work the UN does, particularly in the areas of children's issues, world health and disaster relief. Lastly, we advocate our nation's responsible participation with the UN in the areas of international cooperation and law.
And a Good Deal More
The Center offers a splendid selection of folk art and crafts from countries around the world. There are no language barriers at the Center—just artistry and consummate skill. Better yet, proceeds from the store support the United Nation Children's Fund. UNICEF is a non-political, humanitarian agency that promotes and protects children the world over. This wonderful quote sums it up best:
"With every girl we help educate: with every landmine we remove: with every conflict we prevent or peace we keep: with every community we lift out of poverty and every human wrong we defeat with human rights, we are making progress together. As active and dynamic members of UNA-USA, you should take full and equal pride in these accomplishments." -- former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan
